Buying a new car is an exciting step in your
life, and you should never let financial stress get in the way of enjoying your
new ride. Once you’ve decided to buy a new car from a dealership, these money-saving
tips will help you start the process in the best way possible.
The simplest way to save money on a new car is
to buy in cash if possible. Avoiding loan payments will save you a significant
amount of money by cutting out interest and fees altogether. Consider starting
a savings fund for a new car so you can avoid all burdens of monthly payments
and own 100 percent equity in your vehicle when you drive it off the lot.
Trading in your old car at a dealership can help you save a good chunk on the cost of a new model. You can also rid yourself of the stress and complications that come with selling a car on your own.
Work with a dealership to research all the new
vehicles you’re considering and get to know them inside and out. What’s their
fuel efficiency? What’s the car’s dependability rating? How much is covered by
the warranty? Is the dealership running specials on any particular makes or
models? Additionally, knowing what you intend to use the vehicle for primarily
can help you narrow the wide field of available models and stop you from
overspending on a model with capabilities you don’t need.
With these money-saving tips, you’ll navigate the car-buying process like a seasoned pro. If you have any questions, reach out to someone at McKaig Chevrolet Buick. We’re ready and waiting to help you with anything you need.
Not many fishing enthusiasts get to say they’re part of the Bassmaster Elite Series, a top-tier tournament for the best bass fishers around. Our team at McKaig Chevrolet Buick is proud to sponsor competitor Lee Livesay, who started fishing competitively as early as the mid-90s and has been making a splash on the scene ever since. The 34-year-old from Longview, Texas, made his way into the Bassmaster Elite Series when he finished in 13th place in the 2018 Bassmaster Central Open Standings.
So what should you know about Lee Livesay? He just recently celebrated his 34th birthday in July, has competed in 16 tournaments total, and has finished in the top ten rankings three times (in the top twenty seven times). In total, he has caught about 460 lb., 12 oz. in fish. That’s a lot of bass!
Lee Livesay wasn’t known for
fishing when he was younger. In fact, he was the Defensive MVP for his high
school football team his senior year and had a promising future in football,
but he found himself drawn to fishing over football even as he continued to
play in college.
So what does this Bassmaster Elite
Series participant do now? Lee Livesay now owns a camp and acts as a local
guide for visitors to Lake Fork. The bass fishery was where he spent most of
his time in his east Texas hometown.
Trying to decide between buying your next vehicle new or used? Before making your decision, consider these important factors.
Buying used will almost always
cost you less at the point of sale. If spending less on your new-to-you car is
your priority, used is the way to go.
Buying a new car isn’t more
expensive just because the vehicle is shiny and fresh. New cars also come with
higher sales tax and registration fees and tend to cost more to insure.
A new car is a clean slate. If
you’re suspicious by nature, this fact alone might make the cost of a brand-new
car completely worth it. On the other hand, there are more vehicle history
records and reporting methods than ever before, so it’s relatively simple to
get a grip on the full and true story of any used vehicle you’ve got your eye
It’s important to consider that
the “jalopy” has, for the most part, gone by the wayside. Modern vehicles are
built to last longer, so buying a used vehicle isn’t the hit-or-miss risk it
A used car has already undergone
its depreciation process. Depreciation is the decrease in value a vehicle goes
through over time. New cars immediately and significantly depreciate in value
For the most part, used cars don’t
come with any sort of warranty. If you want peace of mind, buying new is your
best bet. Alternatively, check out GM’s Certified Pre-Owned program.
