Not many fishing enthusiasts get to say they’re part of the Bassmaster Elite Series, a top-tier tournament for the best bass fishers around. Our team at McKaig Chevrolet Buick is proud to sponsor competitor Lee Livesay, who started fishing competitively as early as the mid-90s and has been making a splash on the scene ever since. The 34-year-old from Longview, Texas, made his way into the Bassmaster Elite Series when he finished in 13th place in the 2018 Bassmaster Central Open Standings.
So what should you know about Lee Livesay? He just recently celebrated his 34th birthday in July, has competed in 16 tournaments total, and has finished in the top ten rankings three times (in the top twenty seven times). In total, he has caught about 460 lb., 12 oz. in fish. That’s a lot of bass!
Lee Livesay wasn’t known for fishing when he was younger. In fact, he was the Defensive MVP for his high school football team his senior year and had a promising future in football, but he found himself drawn to fishing over football even as he continued to play in college.
So what does this Bassmaster Elite Series participant do now? Lee Livesay now owns a camp and acts as a local guide for visitors to Lake Fork. The bass fishery was where he spent most of his time in his east Texas hometown.
